Your files never leave your device

Every tool on CompressGIFs — the compressor, resizer, WebP converter, and platform compliance checkers — runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. When you drop a GIF into any of these tools, it is read, processed, and downloaded on your own device. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or copied to any server we operate. We have no way to see the files you process, because they never reach us.

This also means the tools work with your network disconnected once the page has loaded, and there is no file-size limit or daily cap imposed by a server, since there is no server in the processing path.

What we do collect

This site does not currently run analytics or advertising scripts, and does not use accounts, so there is no personal data collected through the tools themselves. Our hosting provider may log standard, aggregate technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance purposes, in the same way any web host does.

If that changes — for example, if display advertising or basic analytics is added later to support the free tools — this page will be updated first to describe exactly what's added and why, rather than silently.

Fonts and third-party requests

Pages on this site load fonts from Google Fonts. Loading a font makes a request to Google's servers, which is the only outbound network request this site makes on page load. No file you process is ever part of that or any other request.

Local storage

To save you from re-picking the same platform preset every time, this site may remember your last-used option in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's settings.
